Analytical & technical - interface between R&D and manufacturing

Full Time, Permanent Position, based in Broadmeadows | Global team
A full time permanent opportunity has become available for a Scientist or Senior Scientist - Process Analytical Technology (internally referred to as Scientist / Senior Scientific Expert). Reporting to the Manager Process Analytical Technology, the main responsibility of this position is to coordinate Process Analytical Technology (PAT) activities at the Broadmeadows site in accordance with the global PAT team. You will support identification, development, site transfer, implementation and maintenance of PAT methods for routine manufacturing processes and expansion projects. In addition, you will partner closely with local and global stakeholders, such as value streams, R&D and Engineering site teams.
Take responsibility for coordination of Process Analytical Technology (PAT) activities at the Broadmeadows site in accordance with the global PAT team
Collaborate with Manufacturing, R&D and Engineering teams both locally and globally to identify and support projects pertaining to PAT, scale-up, process development, and process improvement initiatives. Represent PAT activities in global CSL Behring network and project teams
Adapt and apply scientific principles to new processes/products and have a high degree of independence. Anticipate potential problems and design preventative solutions. Maintain an awareness of manufacturing processes and be proactive in introducing improvements for yield, quality, or operational efficiencies
Ensure efficient and flexible work processes are developed in conjunction with PE Advanced Methodologies & Innovation and then implemented flawlessly throughout Process Analytical Technology
Have a general knowledge of pharmaceutical processing and related key procedures (e.g. Quality by Design (QbD) and ICH Guidelines). Support local and global tech transfers between R&D, Pilot Plant and Manufacturing
Lead and conduct PAT studies focusing on the implementation of PAT methods to support characterisation and improvement of routine manufacturing processes. Evaluate data and compile relevant study reports
Contribute to evaluation of new technology at small and intermediate scale and support implementation at full scale
Skills and Experience
Undergraduate degree in in chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, bioengineering, or a related field
Ability to work autonomously and work in a diverse and global matrix organisation
Proven experience developing analytical methods and handling large data sets
Excellent communication and technical writing skills
Experience in statistics, modeling and/or chemometrics would be advantageous
