The Financial Analysis Reporting and Management (FARM) Division, provides trusted advice to stakeholders to enable them to deliver on government policy and program objectives.
FARM consolidates all updates of the Budget, provides budget financial data published by the Australian Government, and prepares and publishes the Australian Government's monthly and annual consolidated financial statements. In addition, FARM develops accounting policy to support the Australian Government’s budgeting and reporting framework. FARM also prepares appropriation bills, administers the cash drawdown of those appropriations and the movement of all cash payments and receipts through the Official Public Account.
Accounting and Frameworks Branch
Within this environment the Accounting and Frameworks Branch works closely with other areas of the department and external stakeholders to provide high quality, timely and relevant policy and guidance, advice and stewardship.
The Accounting and Frameworks Branch is responsible for supporting Commonwealth entities to meet their statutory budgetary and financial reporting obligations, including responsibility for updating legislative instruments and providing guidance materials and accounting related technical advice to support Commonwealth reporting entities to prepare their annual financial statements.
Estimates and Reporting Branch
The Estimates and Reporting Branch is responsible for the preparation of and advice to the Minister and Government on financial statements and other financial information for all annual estimates and actuals updates, including for budget publications. The Branch also produces the annual Consolidated Financial Statements and the Australian Government’s General Government Sector Monthly Financial Statements and provides advice on the Australian Bureau of Statistics’ Government Finance Statistics matters.

In particular, roles in Financial Analysis, Reporting and Management will consolidate your creditable record of experience and achievement in financial management through:
- Contributing and leading the preparation of financial management and related policy advice to the Government and Commonwealth agencies to inform their decision-making and approach to financial management;
- Effective stakeholder management and negotiation skills through daily engagement with stakeholders across Government;
- Assisting the Government in developing Budget strategy and managing Budget processes in collaboration with the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and the Treasury;
- Numerical capability and financial acumen; and
- Applying whole-of government policy and frameworks.

ELIGIBILITY ADVICE & CANDIDATE NOTES
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS) unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing.
- Successful applicants will be required to undergo the process to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold the required security clearance level for the role as indicated in the downloadable job pack. All Finance staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance prior to commencement.
- This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing. Roles may be offered as either ongoing or non-ongoing subject to business needs and/or candidate preference. Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled as a specified term vacancy for an initial period of up to 12 months. Specified term vacancies may be offer for a maximum of 18 months initially, and be extended up to a maximum period of three years.
